Turkey increases exports to EU by 10%

The import of goods to Turkey increased by seven percent in August 2014, compared to the same period of 2013 and stood at $19.476 billion, Turkish Statistical Institute said.

The country’s exports increased by 2.9 percent in August 2014, compared to the same month of 2013, and totaled $11.44 billion, according to the Statistical Institute.

Turkey exported $5.65 billion worth of goods to the EU countries during the reporting period, which is 10 percent more than in August 2013.

Turkey’s exports to Germany stood at $1.137 billion, UK - $777 million, Iraq - $647 million and the U.S. - $530 million, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute.

Turkey’s imports from China equaled $2.257 billion, Russia – $2.137 billion, Germany - $1.746 billion and Italy - $994 million.
