Israeli jets bomb two targets in Gaza

28 June 2014 [10:35] - TODAY.AZ
The IDF spokesperson confirmed the IDF launched airstrikes early Saturday in retaliation to Friday night's rocket attack from Gaza. The airstrike targeted two "centers of terrorist activity, a weapons manufacturing site in central Gaza and a weapons storage site in southern Gaza", Haaretz reported.

Earlier, two rockets fired from Gaza at Israel's south were intercepted by the Iron Dome rocket defense system on Friday evening, hours after two Palestinian militants were killed in an Israel Air Force strike in the northern Gaza Strip.

Sirens went off minutes before in Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council, Hof Ashkelon Regional Council, and Eshkol Regional Council.

Four rockets launched from Gaza exploded in open areas, no injuries or damage were reported.

Also on Friday evening, a mortar shell landed near a military force not far from the Gaza security fence. The IDF said it returned fire to the source of the launch.

The Israel Air Force struck a target in the northern Gaza Strip Friday afternoon, killing two militants. Reports said several others were wounded in the stirke.

Palestinian reports identified the two killed in the attack as Mohammed al-Fasih, 23, and Usama al-Hassumi, 25, residents of the Shikh Radwan neighborhood north of Gaza City. The two were members of Salah al-Din Brigades, the Popular Resistance Committees' military wing.

The Israel Defense Forces said al-Fasihand and al-Hassumi were involved in rocket fire at Israel's south in recent weeks, a statement published following the attack said. It added that the two were in recent days planning "severe terrorist attacks" against Israeli civilians.
