Turkish opposition demands resign of country’s General Staff

10 June 2014 [15:25] - TODAY.AZ
The head of Turkey's oppositional Nationalist Movement Party, Devlet Bahceli has called on the head of the country's General Staff to resign, Turkish TRT Haber TV channel reported on June 10.

He made the call after a protestor in the country's military unit in the Diyarbakir province took the Turkish flag down.

Bahceli underscored that the Turkish flag is the people's pride, adding that it is a matter of honor for the head of the General Staff and he should resign.

Supporters of the pro-Kurdish parties held protests in the Diyarbakir province on June 9, during which a protestor in one of the military units took the Turkish flag down.

Following this, protests were held in almost every city in Turkey, including Istanbul.
