Turkey to up power imports from Iran

urkey has announced a tender among companies importing electricity in the country to increase the electricity supply from Iran by existing available electric power facilities, the statement published on the website of Turkey's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) said.

This means electricity imports through the Bashkale Khoi power transmission line (PTL) will be increased to 400MW from the current 300 megawatts. The import of electricity through Dogubayazit-Bazargan PLT will be raised to 40 MW.

All companies willing to participate in the tender should submit their applications to the EPDK by January 29, 2013.

Earlier, the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) in its report said that in November 2012 electricity consumption decreased by 0.3 per cent compared with November 2011, reaching 19.9 billion kilowatt / hours.

The electricity consumption increased by 5.6 per cent in January-November 2012 compared to the same period in 2011, hitting 220.9 billion kilowatt / hours.

Within 11 months electricity imports to Turkey reached 5.8 billion kilowatt / hours.
