As a result of military operations held against militants of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party, Turkish security forces killed 670 militants during nine months in the territory of Turkey and Northern Iraq, the Sabah newspaper reported on Monday.
During this period, three tons of explosives, 400 rifles and 800 hand grenades were revealed and seized. Also, 6,300 people, who helped the PKK militants, were arrested for the first nine months.
About 170 militants surrendered to the Turkish authorities.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK has lasted for over 25 years. The PKK is recognised as a terrorist organization by both the UN and the EU.
