
Georgian parliament has considered the issue on the persons nominated by President Mikhail Saakashvili as ambassadors to eight countries including Azerbaijan.
Teymuraz Sharashenidze, who was approved as ambassador to Azerbaijan, said that he will leave for Azerbaijan with great pleasure and pride. He also confessed, that he enjoys working with journalists.
Sharashenidze gave some information about himself.
“I was born in Tbilisi. I graduated from the Medical Institute. I am a candidate of medical sciences. I worked as chief of the department at the Georgian Soviet of Ministers. I have been in diplomatic service since 1995. I was secretary, consul at Georgian embassy in Turkey, first consul general of Georgia to Istanbul, first Georgian ambassador to Bulgaria. I am married, have three sons and one-year-old grandchild,” he said.
The diplomat added, that he has a lot of friends in Azerbaijan.
“I have been to Baku several times. I liked the city very much. The history of our friendship is ancient. Our strength is the friendship. I am very glad that our cooperation with Azerbaijan is extending day after day. Azerbaijan is developing rapidly. I am glad that I will be Georgian ambassador to Azerbaijan. No doubt I will also protect the interests of Azerbaijan, as Georgia and Azerbaijan are strategic partners. There are intergovernmental agreements and other official documents about it. We have similar goals,” he said.
Teymuraz Sharashenidze knows Russian, Turkish, English, Bulgarian and Macedonian. He said he will be fluent in Azerbaijani within a few months.
