
Leader of the Azerbaijani National Independence Party (ANIP) Etibar Mammadov will pay a visit to the United Kingdom to participate in the congress of the British Conservative Party, which will be held in Birmingham on Oct.3-6, the ANIP reported.
During the congress, Mammadov is expected to meet with a number of British officials, including Foreign Minister William Haig. The ANIP was established in 1992. Since 1995, the party has cooperated with the International Democratic Union, which unites 82 center-right parties from 36 countries. Former Chairman Mammadov twice ran for president. After losing in 2003, Mammadov resigned from the party chairmanship. Yusif Bagirzade is current party chairman.
