American Karabakh Foundation's main goal is establishing cultural bridge between Azerbaijan and the U.S., the Foundation's Executive Director Diana Cohen Altman said in an interview to Voice of America.
The Foundation established in June is a non-commercial organization, whose main task is to introduce the U.S. public with the Azerbaijani culture. The Foundation's first successful project was holding the 125th anniversary of the Azerbaijani great composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov in U.S.

According to Altman, the Foundation's special attention is paid to Karabakh, however, the organization's range of interests covers the entire Caucasus region.

Speaking about plans for future activities, Altman stressed that the Foundation plans to expand its work with children and in this regard the organization's web page contains articles about Azerbaijan. The Foundation will organize photo exhibition in the autumn and hold a festival dedicated to Azerbaijan next spring. The organization also plans to hold Novruz holiday in schools of Washington, organize schoolchildren's mutual visits, publishing a book on the Azerbaijani cuisine.

The Khazar University supports the Foundation's activity in Azerbaijan.

"The Foundation's Board of Directors finds it necessary to increase knowledge about Azerbaijan in the U.S. Azerbaijan is an important strategic partner of the U.S. and our children grow up together, and we need to know more about each other," Altman said.
