10 November 2008 [16:23] - TODAY.AZ
The religious situation in Azerbaijan remains stable and a rush around the Abu-Bakr mosque is created artificially, said chairman of the state committee for work with religious formations Khidayat Orujev.
"Some religious people create an artificial rush around the activity of the Abu-Bakr mosque", he told reporters Monday, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.

He said members of the religious community of Narimanov district bear no attitude to the Abu Bakr mosque.

"The religious community of the Narimanov district is registered at 4, Ismail Khidayatzade street, 49 a and bears no attitude to the aforementioned mosque.

Those, who try to create a rush around this issue, are not worried by the fact that two religious people were killed and several injured in the temple. Such bloody events in the Mosques, churches and synagogues have never occurred in Azerbaijan before", noted he.

In turn, head of the Caucasus Muslims Department Sheikhulislam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade announced that he did not apply with recommendations to the state committee to attribute the Abu Bakr mosque to the religious community of the Narimanov district.

"Explosion of a grenade in the Abu Bakr mosque killed and injured people. Related state bodies currently investigate this crime. I do hope that after completion of the investigation the Abu Bakr Mosque will resume operation", noted Pashazade.
