28 August 2008 [12:07] - TODAY.AZ
President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan has repeated his invitation to his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul to visit Yerevan to watch the football match between the teams of the two countries in the framework of an elimination game for the 2010 world championship.
In his interview to Radical newspaper, published on Thursday, Sargsyan noted that he considers Gul's arrival to Armenia extremely important for normalization of relations between the two neighbor states, which do not maintain diplomatic ties and have had borders between them closed through the past 15 years.

"If I did not believe in the importance of this visit, I would have never invited the respected Mr.Gul. We are neighbors. We have survived hard times in our joint history. Armenia is ready to development of relations and expects the same from Turkey", said the Armenian President, according to RIA Novosti.

Speaking of the upcoming match on September 6, he noted that the national teams of the two countries will meet for the first time. "This event may become an important chance for development of our relations", said the Armenian President.

The Turkish leader has not yet decided about the visit to Yerevan.
