Mubariz Qurbanly: "The Azadlyg bloc is supported by only 1% of voters"

18 July 2008 [10:00] - TODAY.AZ
"Azadlyg bloc is passive in taking a decision regarding boycott of presidential elections because it has no electorate", said deputy executive secretary of the Yeni Azerbaijan party Mubariz Qurbanly.
He said opposition parties which really want to participate in the presidential elections, have already made their decision and only parties, which do not believe in their own powers, declare boycott of elections.

"I do not think that the shutdown of the Baku international press center became the main reason for which the bloc is not able to define with the boycott tactics. If the bloc chairmen speak of boycott, a special session is not needed.

The party's non-participation in the presidential elections means nothing. About 50 parties are registered in the country and participation of all political powers is not important", noted he.

Deputy executive secretary of the Yeni Azerbaijan party also announced that the Azadlyg bloc is not strong opponent at the presidential elections.

"Azadlyg bloc leaders announce that their coalition includes the leading parties, but its activity has not been felt through the last six months.

Currently, the Azadlyg bloc has support of only 1% of voters", concluded Qurbanly.
