President Ilham Aliyev has issued an order on several measures for holding four matches of the European Championship (one quarter-final and three group matches) in Baku next year.

Azerbaijani capital will host three Group A matches and one UEFA EURO 2020 quarterfinals.

The 2020 UEFA European Football Championship (Euro 202) was originally scheduled to take place from 12 June to 12 July 2020. However, the UEFA announced that the tournament would be postponed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe.

Upon the order, a foreigner or a stateless person, who visited Baku for the matches and submitted at least one of the following documents, will be able to obtain a visa from May 1 till July 5, 2021, at the checkpoints on Azerbaijan`s state border.

No work permit is required for foreigners and stateless persons, who were involved in the labor activity and accredited in Azerbaijan.

There are several documents which are considered as a ground for granting a visa: official invitation letter from the Organizing Committee to hold the games in Baku or from the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA), accreditation card or another document of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) as well as ticket or a document confirming the receipt of a ticket to the game for citizens of the countries of the football teams and stateless persons permanently residing in those countries.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan and EURO 2020 Organizing Comettee have agreed to allow only 50 percent of fans to each match.

Fans can attend matches at the Baku Olympic Stadium subject to appropriate procedures related to COVID-19 pandemic.

This decision applies not only to local football fans, but also to foreign citizens of those countries whose national teams will play at the European Championship. More delats will be provided in near future.
