Azerbaijan to take part in meeting of Council of Ministers of Defense of CIS countries

The Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov will take part in a meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member states, which will be held on October 12 in Tashkent, the press service of the Defense Ministry reported Oct. 10.

The draft agenda of the meeting includes 20 points.

In particular, at the meeting it is planned to discuss the situation in the Central Asian region and the priority tasks of countering international terrorism, the directions of development of military cooperation among the CIS member states, to talk about the prospects of the unified system for monitoring and assessing the radiation, chemical and biological situation.

In addition, the meeting participants will discuss cooperation in the field of ensuring aviation flights of the armed forces of the CIS countries, the implementation of the unified system of state radar identification development concept, cooperation in the field of military education, holding joint events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Council members also intend to adopt the CIS Work Plan for 2019, sign documents aimed at developing the joint (integrated) communications system of the armed forces of the CIS member states, informational support for the activities of the armed forces until 2022, cooperation in navigation, topography and geodesy, metrology, approve joint activities of the joint air defense system of the CIS member countries in 2019, as well as consider a number of other issues.

The Council of Ministers of Defense of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States was established in 1992. It consists of representatives from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
