Armenian troops keep high tension on contact line of troops

24 April 2017 [10:54] - TODAY.AZ

Armenia’s armed forces have 113 times violated the ceasefire along the line of contact between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops during the day, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported on April 24.

Armenians were using 60-millimeter mortars.

The Azerbaijani army positions in Bala Jafarli, Qaymaqli, Farakhli, Qushchu Ayrim, Kamarli villages of the Gazakh district underwent fire from the Armenian army positions located on the nameless heights of the Ijevan district, as well as in Voskevan, Shavarshavan and Dovekh villages of the Noyemberyan district of Armenia.

Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani army positions in Munjuglu and Kokhanabi villages of the Tovuz district were shelled from the Armenian army positions located in Aygedzor, Chinari villages of the Berd district of Armenia.

Moreover, the Azerbaijani army positions were shelled from the Armenian positions located near the Armenian-occupied Chilaburt village of the Tartar district, Marzili, Yusifjanli and Javakhirli villages of the Aghdam district, Kuropatkino village of the Khojavand district, Gorgan, Horadiz, Ashagi Veyselli villages of the Fuzuli district, as well as from the positions located on the nameless heights in the Goranboy, Tartar, Khojavand, Fuzuli and Jabrayil districts of Azerbaijan.

For more than two decades Armenia and Azerbaijan are in a state of war following Yerevan’s aggression, ethnic cleansing policy and illegal territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenia keeps under control over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions in a brutal war in the early 1990s.

Despite a fragile ceasefire agreement signed in 1994, Armenia keeps violating armistice with Azerbaijan.
