Moscow will host a meeting of Azerbaijani and Russian foreign ministers, Elmar Mammadyarov and Sergey Lavrov, on January 24, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister’s Spokesman Hikmat Hajiyev told Trend.

Hajiyev said that the meeting, which will be held in the middle of the day, was planned in December 2016.

The two foreign ministers will discuss the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of the agreements reached in Vienna and St. Petersburg in 2016.

Following the meeting in St. Petersburg, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan confirmed in a joint statement the agreements reached during the Armenian-Azerbaijani summit in Vienna.

Azerbaijan and Armenia for over two decades have been locked in conflict, which emerged over Armenian territorial claims. Since the 1990s war, Armenian armed forces have occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions. The UN Security Council has adopted four resolutions on Armenian withdrawal, but they have not been enforced to this day.
