Mehriban Aliyeva, kindness as part of life philosophy

Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Lady of Azerbaijan, who enjoys love and sympathy of the millions in Azerbaijan, is celebrating her birthday today.

Smart, elegant, talented lady with excellent organizational and leadership skills could earn support of people through her hard activities targeting care of human destiny, real feeling of human problems and right solution to challenges. She is in guard of national culture, but also responsive to preservation of world cultural heritage.

Unique and ancient culture of Azerbaijan, as well as its rich historical heritage, have received adequate attention of the international community under the close guidance of Mehriban Aliyeva.

President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, and MP -- these are only a small list of accomplishments in her multifaceted activities carried out in the name of popularizing Azerbaijan throughout the world.

Since the establishment of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in 2004, headed by Mehriban Aliyeva, it’s actively involved in the development of the country and its people.

The Foundation implements successful and important projects. By the initiative of the First Lady it really does a lot to contribute to the society to improve people's welfare, creates new schools across the country and restores the old ones, as well as preserves cultural heritage of Azerbaijan.

Concepts such as kindness, mercy and compassion are indeed crucial and form an integral part of her life philosophy. Her love for children deprived of parental care deserves particular praise. Mehriban Aliyeva is very sensitive to every child-related problem. She is doing everything possible in the name of saving children suffering from any ailment or making every effort to ensure that children live healthy life surrounded by their loved ones.

Sensitive to concerning matters, Mehriban Aliyeva is constantly involved in many popular projects, including education and health. Today, thousands of parents thank the First Lady for the creation of the largest ever in the region Thalassemia Center, which is an example of her love and care of children. 

Despite her tight and busy schedule, the First Lady always seeks time to spend it with children who need care. "No matter how much good has been done for the children, this is still not enough" is the slogan Mehriban Aliyeva always takes as a basis. And the fact that her birthdays she often holds surrounded by children with disabilities and deprived of parental care is an example of her tenderness.

People consider Mehriban Aliyeva as their protector and intercessor: they write letters to her and send appeals, asking for help. This help is not long in coming. Such trust and people's love is not difficult to explain, as all the efforts of Mehriban Aliyeva are aimed to pay an additional drop of light and well-being in the lives of those who need it most.

Bright personality, excellently blending her wonderful personal features and professional skills in whatever she is engaged in, makes the First Lady popular not only in Azerbaijan, but also throughout the world.

In May 2014 the authoritative British magazine “The Business Year” recognized Mehriban Aliyeva "First Lady of the Year" for her invaluable contribution to the public, social and cultural spheres of Azerbaijan, as well as for services in promoting the national culture throughout the world.

The First Lady is focused on glorifying her country on the world stage, and thanks to her high intelligence, leadership qualities and excellent organizational skills, she is able to generate love and sympathy of her people. Her achievements can be traced in many spheres, including sport.

Mehriban Aliyeva made an enormous contribution to holding the inspiring and pride-filled Baku 2015 First European Games held in the country last summer, thus putting her heart and soul to organize the Games at such a high level. The magnificent Games, which undoubtedly endured in the minds of audiences worldwide over for some time, achieved a new milestone in the sports history of Europe, demonstrating Azerbaijan's ability to host such grand events.

For her seminal work in the development of culture, education, health and sports in Azerbaijan, popularization of the cultural heritage in the national and international scale and great contribution to the organization of the European Games, Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded the Order of "Heydar Aliyev".

Mehriban Aliyeva also played a key role in hosting prestigious Song Contest -- Eurovision-2012 in Baku, which is even more glorified the country in the world.

Now, Mehriban Aliyeva is carrying another important responsibility as a Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games to be held in Baku in May 2017.

The development and popularization of Azerbaijani folk art pearl -- mugham also occupies an important place in the activities of the First Lady, who regularly organizes international mugham festivals. Moreover, built on the initiative of Mehriban Aliyeva, International Mugam Centre regularly brings together enthusiasts of this unique musical phenomenon.

Catching up on work that requires manifestation of business and leadership skills, Mehriban Aliyeva at the same time is a real lady, a loving wife and attentive mother.
