Azerbaijan’s participation in G20 summit in Turkey is of great importance, Novruz Mammadov believes.

The deputy head of Azerbaijani presidential administration, chief of the administration’s foreign relations department told journalists on November 20 that this summit is the biggest event on a global scale.

"The issues discussed at this summit, the exchange of views and other issues will long be talked by some political and analytical centers," he said.

G20 is considered as one of the important structures in the world, and these countries account for 85 percent of the world economy and 80 percent of the world trade.

“From this point of view, the G20 countries have significant influence on the ongoing processes in the world,” Mammadov noted. "The G20 summit is important amid the ongoing processes in the world, which have intensified and, to some extent, escalated since early 2015."

The top official believes that the terrorist attacks in Paris on the eve of the G20 summit, put a spotlight on the event.

"Invitation of President Ilham Aliyev to this summit as a special guest, his participation in all meetings and gatherings of the summit as an equal member and addressing each of these meetings is very significant for Azerbaijan," Mammadov said. "First of all, this showed the friendly, brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey and their strategic partnership which has reached such a high level."

In general, such attitude in these processes shows that the relations between the two brotherly countries, their leaders and people are of great importance. Also, Azerbaijan’s invitation to this important summit by Ankara shows that these two brotherly countries, partner states have a significant influence on the processes on the international arena, in the region and the world, according to the official.

“In addition to the speeches made by Azerbaijan’s president in all meetings of the summit, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that in recent years, Azerbaijan has played a very important role in the region and integration processes on the international arena, particularly in the energy sphere,” Mammadov stated.

The issue of international terrorism emerged as the key concern at the G20 economic summit held in Turkish Antalya from November 15-16.

The world's leading countries, fighting recession and economic instability, discussed Syria, ISIS, and the migrants' crisis in the wake of a deadly terrorist attack in France. World leaders admitted that there can be no economic or financial stability without a resolution to the conflicts that generate terror.

Azerbaijan's participation in the G20 summit was useful as well as important, both for the country and its partners. It was another opportunity to talk about pressing issues, exchange views and understand each other better, as the lack of understanding is one of the problems in the present world.
