Azerbaijan is one of the countries suffering from terrorism, which is the integral part of Armenia’s policy of occupation against the country, said Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev.

He made the statement at a working dinner hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in honor of heads of state and government and international organizations participating in the G20 Summit in Antalya on November 15

During the event, the participants discussed such issues as combating terrorism and migration crisis.

Addressing the discussions, President Aliyev said that his country actively participates in fighting the international terrorism and was one of the first countries to join the operations of coalition forces in Afghanistan.

Over 2,000 Azerbaijani citizens were killed as a result of the terrorist attacks committed by Armenian terrorist organization in Azerbaijan, the president added.

Speaking about the occupation of Azerbaijani lands, President Aliyev said that 20 percent of the country’s territory has been occupied as a result of Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan and the policy of ethnic cleansing was pursued against the country.

Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan faced humanitarian disaster and nearly a million compatriots became refugees on their native lands because of the occupation.

Although over 20 years ago, the UN Security Council adopted four resolutions demanding the immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from Azerbaijan’s occupied territories, Armenia continues to ignore these demands, the president emphasized.

Aliyev added that Armenia’s non-fulfillment of the decisions adopted by the number one international organization in the world is a very serious problem.

The president pointed out that the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be resolved only in accordance with the international law and within Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.

Armenia has occupied more than 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, having made territorial claims against its South Caucasus neighbor, which led to a lengthy war in the early 1990s.

Yerevan has also not yet implemented the UN Security Council's resolutions on its pullout from the neighboring country's territories. Moreover, peace talks mediated by Russia, France, and the United States, through the OSCE Minsk Group and on the basis of the Madrid Principles, have been largely fruitless.
