Armenia violates ceasefire over 110 times, says Azerbaijani ministry

Armenian military 112 times violated ceasefire on various parts of contact line between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops during the past 24 hours, said Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry Nov. 3.

The armed forces of Armenia, stationed in the Berkaber village of Ijevan district and nameless heights in Armenia’s Krasnoselsk district, fired upon Azerbaijani army positions in the Gizilhajili village of Gazakh district and on nameless heights in Gadabay district.

Azerbaijani troops were also fired at by Armenians’ stationed near the Talish, Tapgaragoyunlu and Gulustan villages of Goranboy district, and the Yarimja, Chilyaburt and Gizil Oba villages of Tartar district.

Armenians were also firing from the Shikhlar, Javahirli, Kangarli, Sarijali, Novruzlu, Shuraabad, Garagashli and Marzili villages of Agdam district, the Kuropatkino village of Khojavand district, the Horadiz, Garakhanbeyli, Gorgan, Ashagi Seyidahmadli villages of Fizuli district, and the Mehdili village of Jabrail district, as well as from nameless heights in the Goy-Gol, Khojavand, Fuzuli and Jabrail districts.

In view of the operative situation, the Azerbaijani armed forces inflicted 114 fire strikes on enemy positions.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
