Number of registered MP candidates hits 317

The number of candidates registered by the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan for participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections has reached 317 people.

This was announced at the CEC meeting held on September 28.

Some 123 of the candidates are nominated by 13 political parties, while 94 are self-nominated candidates.

Also, the number of people who appealed to the CEC for the registration of their candidacies has reached 1,560, some 560 of which are put forward by political parties, 60 – political blocs, three – initiative groups, while 937 of them are self-nominated candidates.

The CEC approved the nomination of 1,461 candidacies and some 1,352 of which have already received signature sheets.

To date, 108 observers have passed registration with the CEC to monitor parliamentary elections in the country, 97 of which are self-nominated observers, while 10 persons were put forth by NGOs and one person received a special permit.

Azerbaijan will hold parliamentary elections on November 1. Preparations for this upcoming significant event in the political life of the country are in full swing.

Campaigning for the November 1 parliamentary elections will start on October 9 and will end on October 31 at 8:00 a.m., exactly 23 days before voting as required by law. Campaign leaflets will be placed at polling stations until October 2.

The submission of all election documents necessary for the registration of candidates to district election commissions will last until 6:00 p.m. October 2.

Election documents can be submitted by the candidate and his/her authorized representative, or the authorized representative of the political party/bloc of the candidate.

The verification of the authenticity of documentation and decisions regarding candidate eligibility will be made within seven days after receiving the documents at the district election commissions.

Azerbaijan's Communications and High Technologies Ministry reported on September 29 that currently, electronic services of the CEC are available on the electronic government (e-gov.az) portal.

Such services allow to search for election constituencies and precincts by first name, last name and patronymic, address, map search, online query services, as well as the inclusion of data in the voters list are now available on this portal. Citizens can use these e-services without passing an authentication on the portal.
