Number of candidates registered for November 1 elections exceeds 200 people

The number of candidates registered by the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan for participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections has reached 217 people, some 123 of which are nominated by political parties, while 94 are self-nominated candidates.

This was announced at the CEC meeting held on September 26.

Moreover, the number of people who appealed to the CEC for the registration of their candidacies has reached 1,449, some 557 of which are put forward by political parties, 60 – political blocs, three – initiative groups, while 829 of them are self-nominated candidates.

The CEC approved the nomination of 1,351 candidacies and they received signature sheets.

Azerbaijan will hold parliamentary elections on November 1. Preparations for this upcoming significant event in the political life of the country are in full swing.

Campaigning for the November 1 parliamentary elections will start on October 9 and will end on October 31 at 8:00 a.m., exactly 23 days before voting as required by law. Campaign leaflets will be placed at polling stations until October 2.

The submission of all election documents necessary for the registration of candidates to district election commissions will last until 6:00 p.m. October 2.

Election documents can be submitted by the candidate and his/her authorized representative, or the authorized representative of the political party/bloc of the candidate.

The verification of the authenticity of documentation and decisions regarding candidate eligibility will be made within seven days after receiving the documents at the district election commissions.
