The World Tourism Organization UNWTO, the United Nations agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable, and universally accessible tourism, is conducting a competition for videos promoting tourism.

Land of Fire entered the competition, presenting a colorful clip titled “Azerbaijan: European Charm of the Orient.”

The Tourism Video Competition is being launched for the first time this year on the occasion of the 21st Session of the UNWTO General Assembly meeting in Medellín, Colombia, to be held between September 12 and 17.

The project provides UNWTO Member States with a great opportunity to showcase their creative work in the field of tourism promotion. It will award outstanding country promotional videos recognizing the significant importance of multimedia in marketing tourism destinations.

Contest winners in two categories – one prize for each UNWTO region decided by a jury of representatives from each of the UNWTO Commission Meetings, and the other a People's Choice Award – will be announced at the 21st Session of the UNWTO General Assembly.

The People's Choice Award is based on an online poll and is open to the general public on the UNWTO website http://azerbaijan.travel/en/news-view/1/2283-test. Polling will be open until September 10.

The rich historical, cultural, and natural heritage of Azerbaijan attracts visitors from all over the world. Untouched nature, mineral springs, the world's only oil field treatment – naphthalene – along with unique ancient architecture, unique culture, cuisine, and more contribute to Azerbaijan being an attractive destination for tourism.

The simplification of the visa regime for tourists and greater opportunities in the tourism sector has led a sharp rise in tourists in recent years.

The flow of tourists is increasing year by year, reaching over 2 million last year, which contributed to about one billion manats (over $950,000 million) in revenue.

There are a growing number of hotels with the highest level of service in the capital and regions.
