Armenian militaries continue provocative actions on the contact line of Armenian-Azerbaijani troops to keep the residents along the border and frontline settlements under constant fear.

Unsatisfied with aggravating tensions on the frontline in the recent times, the Armenian armed forces again shelled Azerbaijani settlements located near the contact line.

This time the Armenian military fired at a wedding party in Azerbaijan’s Tartar region. As a result of shelling, three people were wounded, two of them hospitalized.

Liya Bayramova, the spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Health Ministry, told Trend that two of the wounded were adult women, and the third a minor.

The incident took place in Gapanli village in the Tartar region during a wedding ceremony. As a result of the shelling, Mushkinaz Tanriverdieva (63 years), Madina Ahmadova (67 years), and Zahra Alizade were injured.

“One of the wounded was hospitalized in the central area hospital in Tartar and the other in the central area hospital in Barda. Currently, their health conditions are stable. Zahra Alizade, which fell during the shelling and suffered minor injuries, is being treated at home,” Bayramova said.

The Armenian armed forces frequently wound villagers in their homes or on their farms. Earlier, classes were delayed because of heavy shelling by the Armenian armed forces.

Due to frequent ceasefire violations by the Armenian armed forces, the residents of Azerbaijani villages located near the frontline have gone through great difficulties, and the constant shelling of their homes has hampered their daily lives.

The residents of these villages earn their livelihoods from farming, however, ceasefire violations make it impossible for them to work on their lands, take their cattle for grazing, as well as use water from rivers originating in Armenia.

The Armenian armed forces violated the ceasefire regime with Azerbaijan over 160-170 times in recent days using the 60 mm and 82 mm caliber rocket-propelled grenades and large-caliber machine guns.

This occupant country remains unpunished for the crimes that it committed against the Azerbaijani people.

Armenia and Azerbaijan fought a lengthy war that ended with the signing of a fragile ceasefire in 1994. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and over 1 million were displaced as a result of the large-scale hostilities. Since the war, the Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions.

Armenia continues the occupation in defiance of four UN Security Council resolutions calling for immediate and unconditional withdrawal of armed forces.

Peace talks brokered by mediators from Russia, France, and the U.S. have produced no results so far.
