Azerbaijan’s gas to be only new source for European consumers in years to come

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev  attended the Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council.

The head of state addressed the first meeting of the Advisory Council.

EU Commission Vice-President for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic praised President Ilham Aliyev`s role in the realization of the Southern Gas Corridor project. He said Europe was interested in diversification of energy sources and supply routes. Maros Sefcovic said that according to calculations in the future imports would account for 84% of gas and 94% of oil consumed in the European Union.

The Advisory Council then discussed the issues on the agenda.

At the conclusion, the participants of the Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council signed a joint statement for the press.
