Azerbaijan- UNESCO relations appraised

The Fourth Annual Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilization kicked off on Monday at Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha. The three-day Forum is held under the theme "Intercultural Dialogue Boosts Development".

As part of the Forum, minister of culture and tourism of Azerbaijan Abulfas Garayev met with UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova.  The Minister offered President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev’s and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva’s greetings to the UNESCO Director General and praised the level of relations between Azerbaijan and UNESCO. The meeting focused on issues of bilateral interest.

The Doha Forum builds a results-oriented set of recommendations, by proposing a comprehensive and ambitious roadmap and by designing monitoring and impact assessment tools with political and corporate leaders, mayors, Civil Society representatives, Youth, journalists, Academics, Foundations, Intercultural Organizations and religious leaders (around 2000 attendees).

The opening ceremony was attended by Their Excellencies Heads of State, Prime Ministers, Ministers, Secretary Generals of the United Nations, Arab League, Organization of the Islamic Cooperation besides a number of Sheikhs, members of diplomatic corps, high-ranking officials and guests.
