A question of time: How long will Azerbaijani Eurovision duo Eldar & Nigar sing together?

18 June 2011 [12:51] - TODAY.AZ
In one of their joint interviews, Azerbaijani Eurovision winners Eldar Gasymov and Nigar Jamal pointed out that they will continue to sing as a duo, since they've been through so much together. As of now, some songs are being prepared for the star duo.

"We have lots of plans, and we're working hard on achieving higher steps. To be exact, we plan to release a couple of new albums under "Ell & Nikki". We're currently working on those", said Eldar and Nigar.

Although, some Azerbaijani composers believe that the duo wont last for very long, especially now, after the Eurovision contest is over.

According to Azeri composer Faig Sujaddinov, Eldar and Nigar will have a tough time singing together. Composer pointed out, that he believes Eldar will go on and become a real star.

"Eldar is a young guy, he doesnt have a family, he's not bounded by anything, he's independent. He has a gift from God. I'd really like both of them to be able to represent Azerbaijan on the European stage, unlike our local singers that prefer to perform at weddings only", said Sujaddinov.

Pretty much the same opinion shares Azerbaijani national artist, Mubariz Taghiyev: "It is hard to envision them singing together in the future, as they are very different. Nigar doesnt live in Baku, she is a mother with 2 children. Aside from that, they're both young, and at some point, they would want to go solo. This duo won't last for very long, in my opinion."

Azerbaijani jazz man, honored artist Javan Zeynalli in his turn says that it can go both ways. There are a few factors to consider.

"As far as this duo is concerned, its a question of time. The thing is, their further cooperation depends on the songs that will be written for them. They're a specific duo, and composers must take that into account. On the other hand, I'd like to see Eldar perform alone as well, he's very good at that, and he's got a very soft voice."

All we have to do is just wait, and see how the duo will do in the nearest future.
