Opera by renowned Azerbaijani composer to be staged in Istanbul, Naples and Rome

The “Koroglu” (The Blind Man's Son) opera, the masterpiece of Uzeyir Hajibayov, Azerbaijan's renowned composer, will be staged in Istanbul, Naples and Rome.
The project being implemented by the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Foundation will involve about 250 artists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Turkey.

This musical masterpiece on July 23 will be staged in Istanbul, and as the musicians affirm, will become a landmark event in musical life of the country, the Foundation's press secretary Alexander Kalugin said. Then, the opera will be staged in Europe.

The troupe of international project has been formed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, the chorus – by Kazakhstan Ministry of Culture.

The project's coordinator is TURKSOY (international organization of Turkish peoples sharing common language and culture). The rehearsals have started on June 15 in Astana.

Producer of the opera is Aflatun Nematzade (Azerbaijan), the part of Koroglu is to be performed by Ahmed Agadi (Turkey) and Nigar is performed by Gulzad Daurbayeva (Kazakhstan), Eyvaz – by Yoldosh Israilov (Kyrgyzstan), Kechel Hamza – by Emrah Sezen (Turkey).

The opera “Koroglu” has been staged for the first time in 1937 at the Azerbaijan Academic Opera and Ballet Theater in Baku. Later, the masterpiece of Uzeyir Hajibayov was staged in numerous world countries.
