Baku to host "Giz Galasi" art festival

The festival is organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, "Icheri Sheher" State Historical-Architectural Reserve under the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, the Museum of Modern Art and the Maiden Tower Art Gallery, the foundation said in a statement.

The aim of the festival is to popularize Maiden Tower, one of the most ancient monuments of Azerbaijan. This monument, located in "Icheri Sheher" is a symbol of Baku.

It is included in the UNESCO Heritage Foundation. As a pearl of Azerbaijani architecture, the monument is able to contribute to promotion of ancient history and rich traditions of Azerbaijan enriching the world's cultural heritage and intercultural dialogue, the foundation said.

The project involved more than 20 renowned artists from 18 countries. They will decorate the small models of the Maiden Tower in accordance with their own national traditions and will create works that show the synthesis of different cultures and traditions. Those who visit the square in front of the Maiden Tower in "Icheri Sheher" on May 26-28 will be able to see the creative process and talk with the artists.
