Boyzone 'May Tour' Despite Pain Over Gately

04 March 2010 [13:20] - TODAY.AZ
Pop stars Boyzone have revealed to Sky News they may tour again - despite the pain caused by the absence of band member Stephen Gately.
In an emotional interview, Ronan Keating and Keith Duffy revealed how singing without 'Steo', who passed away on October 10, 2009, had been difficult.

The group is currently promoting their new album Brother, which includes Gave it All Away - a song featuring Gately's voice.

Speaking to Sky's Kay Burley, Keating said just seeing the video for the track was upsetting.

"We're going to perform that song live for the first time and we'll see how we feel (about touring) after that".

The pain of bereavement is "still very raw, it's still very hard, you know", Keating said.

"But we have it, thank God, we have the song. We have his voice up there and that's the saving grace. First single on the album.

"We've been back doing promo now and, you know, you get away for a while and get busy doing other things.

"But then you come back and the single's out now and it's in your face, just reliving it all again. It's a bit hard."

Kay then asked if the Irish band would ever tour without Gately.

Duffy revealed that he and other band members Mikey Graham and Shane Lynch are now set to perform Gave It All Away at one of Keating's upcoming concerts.

Duffy, 35, said singing without their beloved bandmate was "still, obviously, a very scary thought".

"But we have decided that, on March 11, Ronan is playing at the Albert Hall in London and myself and the lads, we're going to come in," he added.

"We're going to perform that song live for the first time and we'll see how we feel (about touring) after that.

"But, so far, any performance we have done has been extremely difficult. He (Gately) was the colour in our band."

Gately died of natural causes aged 33 while on holiday in Spain.
