Russell Crowe's wife reveals career fears

25 January 2010 [15:18] - TODAY.AZ
Russell Crowe's wife Danielle Spencer has revealed that she fears her husband's fame will affect her music career.

The singer-songwriter, who took six years off to raise her two sons, has admitted that she worries about how her comeback album Calling All Magicians will be received because of her relationship with Crowe, Contactmusic reports.

Spencer said: "I don't feel defensive about what I'm doing. I like to keep a low profile, and Russell's the same. We don't court the limelight. The attention we get... that's out of my control.

"Some people may judge me more harshly but I hope that the majority will just listen to the music and take it for what it is."

Spencer, who met the actor on the set of the 1990 film The Crossing, also said that pregnancy and Crowe's success brought her career to a halt.

She added: "We were moving around so much as a family, I wanted to be the security in my child's life. I didn't want to be flitting off and doing stuff when he was so young. Then I fell pregnant with my second and so that whole process started again. Like a lot of mothers, I had a lot of guilt about the thought of doing my own thing.

"I went from being this musician who had just put out an album to suddenly being married to this person that everyone was interested in for weird reasons which had nothing to do with me. And then I got pregnant straight away, so it was an odd period of adjustment. There were definitely a couple of years where I needed to get my balance."
