Extraordinary End of The World Inspired Artworks

Azerbaijan's young artist Arzu Khalilova has presented art project "Sublimation" inspired by the world end.

The supposition around the nearing end of life on the Earth is the very question of global concern throughout the world. Many people are wondering whether there the end to the world and opinions differ dramatically in this regard.  .

In her artworks, Arzu does not create a picture of the end of the world, but shows sublimation of living beings.

As a defence mechanism, sublimation is the channeling of unacceptable feelings into more acceptable ones.

In psychology, it's a defense mechanism where that transforms energy into creativity. 

"Everything new and extraordinary inspires me," she says. "The main direction in which I work is graphics, I am very fascinated by this genre because it is modern and very diverse. It is difficult to imagine the sphere of human life, where today graphic images are not used. Even in the digital space there are always new items of the next graphic editors, which once again confirms the relevance of this genre."

Arzu considers herself a representative of the modern trend in the visual arts.

"I do not reject the classical school at the same time, because this is the basis of the basics, but life continues, and the world that is now changing and developing with lightning-fast speed," she added.

Arzu studied at European Lyceum in Baku, Washington High School in Missouri USA, and Glion University of Higher Education in Switzerland

Her father is the famous artist Azad Khalilov, and her brother Rauf is a filmmaker and composer of electronic music. Arzu taught drawing lessons to children in Arts Council Azerbaijan. In 2005, at the age of 12, Arzu played a starring role of Rauf Khalilov's "Universal Game" short film. In 2007, the movie was presented at the 52nd International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia. In 2010, she played in the movie "Stability", filmed by her brother. Arzu played her role behind the scenes, voicing in English. In 2012, movie was presented at the 65th Cannes Film Festival.
