American blue grass group, Silver City Bound gave a series of fascinating concerts in Sumgayit, Guba, and Baku as part of the America Days Festival held in Azerbaijan.

Based in New York City, Silver City Bound (formerly The Amigos) is the result of a unique artistic partnership between accordionist and keyboardist/vocalist Sam Reider and guitarist/vocalist Justin Poindexter.

The members of the band expressed satisfaction with being in Baku and performing for the Azerbaijani audience.

“We love your city, people, music and cuisine. That's incredible! We are happy that we had an opportunity to visit your fabulous city. Thanks to our program, the Baku audience will make a musical journey through time. Our music extend the boundaries of our country and reflects its traditions,” said Sam Reider while talking to Day. Az.

The culmination of the concert was a joint performance of students of Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art and the American band. The musicians performed the Azerbaijani national music mugham.

The audience was mesmerized by such fascinating performance that promotes brotherhood among peoples.

“We have studied some mugham music, which we will play tonight at the Mugham Center. We love the music. The people are kind. They are beautiful. We hope to come back soon,” Justin Poindexter, guitarist of the "Silver City Bound" Band.

Silver City Bound is well-known for representing America’s musical roots in collaborations with artists all around the world. In 2014 they were selected to tour China, Myanmar, Laos, Burma, and Vietnam on behalf of the U.S. Department of State. The band has conducted over 200 hundred concerts and workshops around the U.S.

Bluegrass music is a form of American roots music, related to the genre of country music. Influenced by the music of Appalachia, Bluegrass has mixed roots in Irish, Scottish, Welsh, and English traditional music, and was also later influenced by the music of African-Americans through incorporation of jazz elements.

Within America Days Festival, representatives of the U.S. “Company-E” delivered a performance at Azerbaijan State Musical Theatre and Rashid Behbudov State Song Theatre. Worldwide American chef, Art Smith also cooked for the Azerbaijani audience. The main objective of America days was to familiarize the Azerbaijani people with the U.S. culture and develop the cultural relations between Azerbaijan and the United States.
