Turkvision-2014 announces winner

The second Turkvision-2014 Song Contest featuring colorful performances of artists from the Turkic world was held in Kazan on November 19-21.

This year, the contest took place with the participation of artists from 24 countries.

The final round of the international song contest was attended by 15 participants who gained the highest scores in the semifinals.

Kazakhstan's singer Zhanar Dugalova won the contest of Turkish speaking and Turkic ethnicity countries and regions watched by about 300 million viewing audience.

Dugalova performed third in the final. The song Oz?n Korem garnered her 225 points.

The second place went to the singer from Tatarstan, Aydar Suleyman, who gained 201 points. The third place went to “Zaman” group, representatives of Bashkortostan, gaining 199 points.

Azerbaijan was represented by Elvin Ordubadl?, the winner of the country’s contest “Voice of Azerbaijan”. He performed the song “Giants’ loneliness”, written by Ayshe Birgul Yilmaz from Turkey and Elza Seyidjahan from Azerbaijan. The national singer took the ninth place.

The show, broadcasted live was co-organized by TMB TV, TAT Media and TURKSOY and reached out to an audience of nearly three hundred million people.

The TURKVISION Song Contest was launched by TMB TV which has been carrying out projects to strengthen ties among Turkic peoples through various cultural and artistic projects since its establishment.

It has become the symbol of peace, brotherhood and friendship among Turkic peoples.

Being a unique project, the contest is aimed at preserving and strengthening ties of friendship among Turkic peoples by introducing their common music, culture, language, art and traditions to the world.

Next year the competition will take place in Mary, Turkmenistan.

Azerbaijani singer Farid Hasanov won the first contest of the Turkic states that was inspired by the Eurovision Song Contest.

Young but talented Farid Hasanov won the contest's finale with 210 points after heartily performing the song "Yasha" (Live), composed by Govhar Hasanzade, leaving behind 11 successful singers.
