
Georgia has already spent $ 200 million for the construction of the Georgian section of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, Georgian Regional Development and Infrastructure Minister Ramaz Nikolaishvili said.
"We are working according to the schedule and the Georgian section of the railway to the border of Turkey will be put into operation," he stressed. "Most of the work will be completed by 2012, and it will be the way to Europe in 2013," Nikolaishvili.
Nikolaishvili said that Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project is among 100 major projects around the world. The length of main line is 245 km, 175 of which pass through Georgia's territory.
Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey participate in the project.
