Azerbaijan supports Christine Lagarde’s candidacy to new IMF head post

Azerbaijan will support candidacy of French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde’s candidacy to the new IMF head post.

Press secretary of Ministry of Finance Mais Piriyev noted that, Azerbaijan’s opinion on this issue is already clear: “Azerbaijan will support candidacy of French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde’s candidacy to the new IMF head post. A letter on this issue has already been sent to the Fund’s Board of Directors”.

Note that, on June 28, the Board of Directors will elect new head of IMF.

There are two contenders for this post: Christine Lagarde and manager of the Bank of Mexico Agustin Karstens.
