SOCAR continues work to improve ecological state of oil-contaminated lands

CJSC "Ekol muhendislik xidmetleri" has begun cleaning up oil-contaminated lands in the industrial areas of the H.Z.Tagiyev Oil and Gas Production Department and the Garachukhur enlarged oil field, CJSC said in its statement on Tuesday.

Work in the territory of the H.Z.Tagiyev Oil and Gas Production Department covers 226 hectares in the Binagadi district and 15 hectares in the Garachukhur enlarged oil field.

"Part of the work in these areas has been already completed," said in the company’s statement.
Within the ecological improvement initiative of areas owned by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), hundreds of hectares of oil-contaminated lands were cleaned in January-May.

The co-founders of Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri, created on March 1, 2006, to solve environmental problems on the Absheron Peninsula, are SOCAR (51 percent) and Lancer SA Services (49 percent).
