
Roughly 134.5 million manat was spent on road network development in Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2011, Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov said in an interview with the ruling New Azerbaijan Party's (NAP) website.
The state budget is expected to allocate 722 million manat to develop this sector, he said.
"Over $7 billion has been invested in the Azerbaijani transport sector in the past five years," he added.
The budget allocated $5 billion to develop the transport sector in 2006-2010. During this period, the country attracted loans worth over $2 billion from international financial institutions.
