Baku hosts Azerbaijan-India interactive business workshop

An interactive business session among Azerbaijani and Indian businessmen was held in Baku on Wednesday.

The event was organized by Indian Embassy to Azerbaijan, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers') Organizations of Azerbaijan (AEC).

Indian ambassador to Azerbaijan Debnath Shaw noted Azerbaijan's interest in non-oil sector's development, stressing India's readiness to share experience in this field.

Mammad Musayev, AEC's president, provided information on economic development in Azerbaijan. He noted that the trade turnover between two countries rose by 6 times to 335 mln dollar during past 5 years.

Musayev highly praised close relations and cooperation prospects between Azerbaijan and India.

Sheila Sudhakaran, assistant secretary general of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, said that Indian businessmen are interested in agriculture, information technologies, telecommunication, banking sector and pharmacology spheres in Azerbaijan.

During the meeting AEC and FICCI signed an agreement on cooperation.
