
Azerbaijan forecasts a single-digit inflation rate in 2011, State Statistics Committee Chairman Arif Valiyev said at a press conference on the results of 2010 today.
"This year, a slight increase will be observed in consumer prices, but inflation will remain at a single-digit level," Valiyev said.
He refused to name specific figures, stressing that it will be possible to speak about forecasts in the first quarter of this year.
Consumer prices and tariffs on services in Azerbaijan in December 2010 increased in price by 1.4% compared to November and by 5.7% in 2010 compared to 2009.
Food prices increased in December by 2%, non-food prices rose by 0.9%, and tariffs on services increased by 0.2%.
Compared to 2009, food prices in 2010 increased by 7.2%, and non-food prices rose by 2.3%, while service tariffs increased by 4.3%.
