Azerbaijan signs contracts with consultants on single solid waste management system

The Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan has determined the consultants for the project on single solid waste management in the country, with which contracts have already been signed and they started activities, the Ministry reported on Friday.

Turkish Ecodenge Company will assist in preparing a strategy for managing solid wastes in Baku for 20 years and a strategic plan on reconstruction for Temiz Sheher JSC. In addition, it is planned to prepare analytical studies on the prediction of the number of population, the study of existing management systems, waste composition, institutional and financial analysis, the study of tariffs and analysis of legal aspects.

Greek Harress Pikel Consult AG Company will provide advice on rehabilitation or liquidation of the landfills for solid waste, including Balakhany landfill. Depending on their conditions, it is envisaged to reconstruct or close landfills, thereby improve the system of waste management in Baku, and reduce their environmental impact.

In addition, Azerbaijani ACEP Company has been selected to assess the environmental impact of reconstruction or elimination of landfills. The company will evaluate the project's environmental impact and contribute to its decline.
