BP reaffirms its commitment to cooperate in Azerbaijan's energy projects

The British company BP is ready to continue cooperation in the implementation of the Azerbaijani oil and gas projects, to which it is party, new BP CEO Robert Dudley, said in Baku on Thursday at the signing ceremony of a new contract for exploration and development of the prospective structures Shafag-Asiman.

BP is the main foreign oil investor in Azerbaijan. It heads the projects to develop the block of oil and gas fields "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" and gas condensate field Shah Deniz. BP is also an operator of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Supsa pipelines.

"Today is a big day for Azerbaijan and BP, because we laid the foundation of the bilateral cooperation in the geological prospecting and development of our new offshore block. BP, together with SOCAR and our other partners, has played a role in the fact that Azerbaijan has once again affirmed itself as the oil and gas producing country of the world level and I believe that the remaining great potential will provide the duration of this collaboration over the coming decade," Dudley said.

Dudley pointed out, that BP and SOCAR have established good partnership relations over many years of the cooperation. Dudley also expressed confidence that this cooperation will be fruitful in the future. Robert Dudley took over from Tony Hayward as CEO on Oct.1.
