Azerbaijan's ministry of industry and energy not to attend first Caucasian Forum on alternative and renewable energy

Over the recent years, the government of Azerbaijan pays much attention to alternative and renewable energy resources. To this end, October 21, 2004 the President approved a program to use alternative and renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan. Also July 16 last year Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy was created under the Ministry of Energy, 20 May this year rules were approved to issue special permits for activities on alternative and renewable sources. January 26, 2009 Azerbaijan joined the International Agency for Renewable Energy.

The official website of the Forum (http://caucasus.is-abc.com) indicates the Ministry of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan as participant along with other government agencies.
However, surprising fact is that the Ministry does not support conducting a forum in this format and the participation of other public bodies in this forum is not expected. But then, why were the organizers of the forum called the Ministry of Energy and other government agencies as major participants of the forum?

To clarify the situation, we contacted the head of the Ministry's press service Azer Mensimli. The Ministry spokesman said: "We will study this question. We were also surprised at indicating the Ministry as one of the participants in official documents of the forum without our consent. The participation of the ministry in such a forum is not planned and it was presented to the attention of the organizers. We are not against studying the international experience in the field of alternative and renewable energy sources, conducting meetings, debates, seminars or conferences. But along with this, we believe that the organizers of such events should cooperate with government agencies, implementing public policy in this regard."
