Azerbaijani Anti-Monopoly Service fines Coca-Cola

The Azerbaijani State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Protection under the Ministry of Economic Development during the regular monitoring of the consumer market has revealed the price increase on beverages sold in half-liter packages, the ministry said.

The state service has filed a case against the three companies with the largest shares on the market - LLC Azerbaycan Koka-Kola Bottlers Ltd, Mars Overseas Baku LTD and the TAC.

"The case was filed in relation to the company Azerbaycan Coca-Cola Bottlers Ltd. It was completed April 12. According to its results, a company abusing a significant position in the market of soft drinks increased prices for Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite by 31,9% to obtain additional revenue," the message reported.

The company has violated the requirements of antitrust laws.

In this regard, about 75,659 manat of excess profit was oaid to the state budget. The company got an order to carry out activity aiming at reducing the prices of beverages from 40 kopecks to 35 kopecks.

Companies Mars Overseas Baku LTD and TAC did not provide sufficient information about the soft drinks sold in a package of 0.5 liters. So, the information will be collected on the spot.
