Volume of Azerbaijan's defense expenditures released

Azerbaijan’s state budget for 2010 envisages 24, 945, 644 manat for improvements in salary and pension benefits in the defense and security sector, and financing social measures.
The Cabinet of Ministers said the amount for salaries and pensions will remain at the level of 2009.

The state budget blueprint envisages 1, 205, 827, 744 manat for defense spending of which 1, 120, 991, 187 manat for the defense forces, including 856, 586, 973 manat for Ministry of Defense, 89, 306, 570 manat for the State Border Service, 6, 652, 000 manat for strengthening the material-technical base, 80, 026, 523 manat for the Ministry of National Security, 2, 425, 271 manat for research, 2, 384, 763 manat for the Ministry of Defense Industry.

In addition, as part of the costs of judicial and law enforcement forces, 62, 942, 886 manat will be allocated for the Internal Troops, 63, 467, 888 manat for for the State Special Protection Service, and 2, 173, 431 manat for the State Courier Service.

For the first time, the state budget envisages no funding for the activities as part of the NATO Partnership for Peace and the Individual Partnership Plan (IPAP) while the 2009 state budget had 1, 378, 490 for this purpose.
