Implementation of Eastern Partnership program delayed

02 July 2009 [15:15] - TODAY.AZ
European Union delays implementation of the Eastern Partnership program, Sweden’s Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt said.
Fredrik Reinfeldt said the step had been taken in connection with EU’s difficulties.
“Europe has faced serious financial crisis and we should take necessary steps to escape the crisis. Now our main task is to escape crisis. Moreover, the climate change problem is not less important. We can not lose time and should solve these problems by December,” he said.

The initiators of the Eastern Partnership program are Sweden and Poland. Six post-Soviet countries Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus participate in the program.
