Ruling party representative: Changes to law "On religion" are quite justified

"Freedom of religion and conscience is regulated by Constitution of Azerbaijan. Amendments and alterations introduced by the Azerbaijani parliament into the law "On religion", are quite justified", said Mubariz Gurbanly, member of the parliamentary committee on legal policy and town building, deputy executive secretary of the party, according to the press service for the Yeni Azerbaijan party.

He said Azerbaijan combines different confessions.

"There is a need to regulate their activity in line with legislative norms", noted Gurbanly.

The Milli Medjlis deputy also clarified the amendment, introduced to article 21 of the law. He said the addition according to which rituals, traditions and ceremonies by Islamic religion can be held only by persons, who were educated in Azerbaijan and are citizens of this country, fully correspond to the law in the sense of the national interests.
