Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), consortium operated by BP, plans on reducing associated gas volumes extracted at Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) in Azerbaijan’s sector of the Caspian that are to be handed over to State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR).
BP Azerbaijan informs: “Since the beginning of this year we have delivered about 415 million standard cubic feet (11.75 million cubic metres) per day of ACG associated gas to SOCAR. Our plan is to hand over a minimum of 1.45 billion cubic metres of associated gas to SOCAR in 2009, however depending on completion of CA recovery activities this number can be much higher.”

In 2008 it was delivered about 204 million standard cubic feet (5.77 million standard cubic metres) per day of ACG associated gas to SOCAR. Overall for the full year 74.6 billion standard cubic feet (2.1 billion cubic metres) of gas was delivered to SOCAR.

“In 2009, we continued to supply of associated gas via the 28” gas subsea pipeline from three platforms (CA, WA and EA) to the Sangachal terminal and into Azerigas’s national grid system for domestic use. Some of the associated gas produced from the Chirag platform was sent to the SOCAR compression station at Oil Rocks via the existing 16” subsea gas pipeline. The rest of the associated gas from the ACG platforms has continued to flow via in-field subsea gas pipelines to the Compression and Water Injection Platform (C&WP) for re-injection to maintain pressure in the reservoir with a suspension due to the gas release investigation around the CA platform.   Gas injection activities currently continue from three wells on CA,” it was reported.

AIOC partners are: BP (operator 34.1%), Chevron (10.2%), SOCAR (10%), INPEX (10%), StatoilHydro (8.6%), ExxonMobil (8%), TPAO (6.8%), Devon (5.6%), ITOCHU (3.9%), Hess (2.7%).
