Cut in consumer inflation continues in Azerbaijan

In March 2009, prices on consumer goods and tariffs on services decreased by 0.7 percent from February 2009 and increased by 8.3 percent from March 2008, Azerbaijan State Statistics Committee said on Apr. 23 19.
Prices on food declined in March by 1.1 percent and on non-foods products by 0.1 percent. Tariffs on services have not changed.

Food products went up by 8.9 percent, non-foods by 8 percent and tariffs for services by 6.8 percent compared with January 2008.
 
In March, the base consumer price index hit 99.2 percent and 110 percent compared with March 2008. The index is calculated with exclusion of goods and services that are prone to seasonal changes (fruits and vegetables). Prices on them are regulated by the State.
