The volume of cargo transportation made 26.9 mln tons in January-February of 2009 which is 0.4% higher over the same period of the last year, according to sources in the state statistical committee of the country, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.

In the structure of the overall volume of cargo transportations, the private transport enterprises accounted for 71.4%, state sector for 28.6%.
Through the reported period the railroad transported 3 mln tons (including transit cargoes) which is 28.6% lower as compared to January-February of 2008.
The sea transport of the country transported 1.9 mln tons of different cargoes in January-February of 2009 (15.4% rise). In the structure of sea transportation oil and oil products made 73.5% and dry cargo 26.5%.
The volume of cargo transportation by cars made 12.4 mln tons in this period (9% growth).
The internal oil pipelines transported 7.4 mln tons of oil (5.2% drop) in January-February. At the same time 5.4 mln tons of oil were pumped by the BTC pipeline (7.5% drop). At the same time 301.3 thousand tons of oil pumped by BTC fell on the Tengiz oil.
The gas pipelines transported 2.2 mln tons of gas (28.2%) through the said period. At the same time, the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzirum gas pipeline transported 1 bln cubic meters of gas in that period.
