Azerbaijan is going to buy patrol ferryboats from Russia

Russian shipbuilding company Almaz is negotiating with Azerbaijan on the contract of sale of Sobol patrol ferryboats, said chief of the company’s special office Vladimir Mokhotayev, APA quotes Russian ARMS-TASS agency.
He said they expected to sign an official deal soon. Mokhotayev said numerous countries took interest in Sobol patrol ferryboats and they had already signed a deal with one of the Caspian states, Turkmenistan, which ordered two coast-guard ferryboats to Almaz and the boats would be handed over in September 2009.

Sobol provided with motors produced by the German company MTU has 50 knots p/h speed. First Sobol was tested in 2006. 30 more ferryboats produced by the company are tested now.
